Mark sets off on a journey of rediscovery facing and overcoming the prejudice that all gender minorities face in an attempt to find his own place in the sun as his alter ego Rachel but Rachel is a fantasy if she is to exist then lots of things need to change internally as well as externally. It is a battle Mark doesn't want to lose but in the end gender battles are not about winning or losing they are about compromise and accommodation.

Written in third person narrative this is an interesting look at Mark's journey to Rachel. The choice of third person keeps Mark's thoughts hidden for the most part, only those thoughts he verbalize are really shared. The way it is handled makes it a bit like the reader is one one the participants. There are some extremely intense moments in that happen that may be triggering to some readers but are handled in such a way to minimize the written out violence. Other than some missing commas the editing seems good. At times the story appears to be moving slowly but keep reading it is well worth it. I would definitely recommend this book. Because of the sexual attacks I would say no younger than young adult, which is a bit sad since it deals so well with the subject matter of a transvestite straight male and his move to a transsexual straight female.Product details
