George Gaskill, a car salesman from Indiana, goes missing from the stern deck of the Aegean Queen leaving only a pool of blood and a strange note behind. Ollie Osgood, the husband of Dotsy Lamb's best friend Lettie, is the last person to have seen him and one of three men who lost a bundle to George in a Texas Hold'em Poker game. Then the ship's photographer turns up murdered on the beautiful island of Mykonos.
Dotsy wants only to unwind and to renew her promising relationship with Marco Quattrocchi, the Carabinieri captain she met in Italy three years ago, but since Ollie is the prime suspect in George's disappearance and Marco is embroiled in the photographer's murder, she can't.
The Aegean Queen is a ship with a theme--archaeology. Dotsy strikes up a friendship with the ship's guest lecturer, famous archaeologist, Dr. Luc Girard, and introduces him to the ship's klutziest dancer, Sophie Antonakos. With the help of Lettie Osgood's amazing powers of observation, Dotsy, Sophie, and Luc discover antiquities in the ship's display cases that have been looted from museums or smuggled from their homelands.
The trails of murder and theft converge on the island of Crete where Dotsy finds herself dodging bullets from the gun of a man she doesn't even know.

I love going with Dotsy to all the places I've always wanted to go, this is my dream cruise (except for the murder of course) and it's an exciting trip too, full of mystery, intrigue and romance, new friends and old. I've got a crush on Marco - hey Dotsy, treat him a bit better okay. I like that Dotsy is an older lady, so active and alive (close call there too) and I am so impressed with Letty, sidekick extraordinaire.Product details

Death on the Aegean Queen Dotsy Lamb Travel Mysteries Book 3 edition by Maria Hudgins Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
What a fun little mystery. Cute enjoyable characters, lovely setting, good story with plenty of twists and turns. Serious subject matter about the stealing of antiquities and yet the author managed to also throw in plenty of good laughs. I really enjoyed it.
Seemed to get the ambiance of the cruise ship just right. I thought I had solved one murder, about midway through, but there was an unexpected twist. Because there were two plots - the murders and the stolen antiquities, this book had a lot to offer.
This time Dotsy & Lettie are one a cruise in Greece. Lettie's husband and Marco are also on the cruise. Of course there is a murder on board plus antiquities being stolen. So there is a lot going on beside travel and sighseeing. I can't tell you how it ends, find out for yoursel. I enjoyed this book.
I enjoyed the book and had read only one other by that author. Was disappointed that not all loose ends were tied up (early in the mystery, the protagonist picks up something in a bathroom; presumably a clue, but it was never mentioned again. the mystery was resolved, and the book ended well. Was fairly well written. I would read other books by her.
Dotsy and two friends (Oliver & Laura) take a cruise to the Greek islands. On the ship, they befriend Katherine and her husband, who goes missing early on in the story. Dotsy gets busy and somehow (this always amazes me) is soon taking part in highly confidential meetings with the ship's authorities, Greek police and her would-be suitor, Marco, from the Carabiniere. Enter Dr. Luc Gerard, authority on antiquities. The amount of people involved in this story is slightly confusing and in many parts, Dotsy's actions (and reactions) are highly implausible. Still, if you have nothing else to read ... this little story can help pass the time, if nothing else.
This book reminded me of a modern day Amelia Peabody mystery (Elizabeth Peters). Dotsy Lamb is a 50-something college history professor who thinks very highly of herself and her intelligence. She has just embarked on a cruise from Athens with some friends, and is looking forward to seeing Marco, an Italian detective specializing in stolen antiquities. They met two years ago and had kept in touch, arranging to meet again on this cruise. Soon after sailing two murders take place. Dotsy considers herself an amateur sleuth and is quickly involved in the investigation, whether the real investigators want her to be or not. Then she discovers there are stolen antiquities in the display cases on board, and her friend, Marco, is fully involved, too. Dotsy is a character. The story is fun, fast paced, and well written, although I did figure this one out fairly quickly.
There are only two or three swear words and no sex scenes in this book. I did not feel that there was graphic violence, so this book is suitable for most ages.
This is the 3rd book of the series, but the first that I have read. I think the author did a great job of establishing the background information that was needed from the previous two books, without boring anyone. My first thought of this book was that Dotsy would be an elderly lady like Miss Marple. Wrong! Dotsy is more middle age and gets into quite a bit of trouble with her investigations. I also enjoyed Lettie, Dotsy's friend who travels with her on the cruise. Lettie has a photographic memory which is very helpful when solving a murder.
Dotsy, Lettie and Lettie's husband are taking the cruise on the Aegean Queen cruise ship. Dotsy's friend, Marco (an Italian police detective) joins the group. Dotsy met Marco while investigating a murder in Italy. Two murders take place and the suspect seems to be someone on the cruise ship. Dotsy is dragged into the investigation and along with Lettie and Marco, they solve the murders and find that there is an antiquities smuggling ring on the ship.
I loved the descriptions of the islands and felt like I was there on the cruise with Dotsy. I enjoyed the characters and have already started another Dotsy Lamb book. I don't know that it is necessary to read the books in order.
I love going with Dotsy to all the places I've always wanted to go, this is my dream cruise (except for the murder of course) and it's an exciting trip too, full of mystery, intrigue and romance, new friends and old. I've got a crush on Marco - hey Dotsy, treat him a bit better okay.
